The MLB trade rumors predictions are already getting loud. And it is only April.
I have been following baseball trades for 15 years. Since I was a kid stealing my dad's newspaper. I have seen good trades. Bad trades. Trades that killed a team's season by June.
Right now, three teams look broken. Really broken. They need help. Not minor league filler. Not prospects who might be good in three years. They need players who can hit or pitch tomorrow.
Here are my three bold predictions. I am not a GM. I just watch too much baseball and make terrible fantasy trades. But some of these make too much sense to ignore.
Why These MLB Trade Rumors Predictions Feel Different in 2026?

Thelatest MLB trade rumors todaysound different than last year. Here is why.The trade deadline moved. New rules changed how teams value prospects. And three contenders built their rosters wrong last winter.

I saw this coming in December. I wrote about it on my blog. Nobody listened. Now those teams are 10 games back. Their fans are angry. Their GMs are sweating.
The hot stove is about to catch fire earlier than usual. Usually July is crazy. This year? May and June could be wild.
The New Deadline Reality Nobody Is Talking About
The trade deadline is August 1 now. Not July 31.
That extra week changes everything.
Teams have more time to evaluate. More time to panic. More time to overpay.
I learned this lesson the hard way playing fantasy baseball. I waited too long one year. Lost every trade. Got nothing.
Real GMs make the same mistake. Watch.
Prediction #1 – Seattle Mariners Trade for a Bat. Finally
The Mariners have not made the World Series ever. Not once. 1977 to 2026. That is 49 years of nothing.Their pitching is fantastic. Top three in the American League.Their hitting is terrible. Bottom five.
I watched them lose 2-1 games seven times last month. Seven times. Their pitchers threw gems. Their hitters did nothing.
Who They Target
Luis Robert Jr. from the White Sox
The White Sox are rebuilding again. Robert is 29. He does not fit their timeline.
Robert hits for power. Plays center field. Has three years left on his deal.
The Mariners have prospects to send. Harry Ford. Cole Young. Both blocked in Seattle anyway.
Latest MLB trade rumors today bleacher reportmentioned this two weeks ago. I think it happens by June 15.
Why This Works for Seattle?
Robert fixes the middle of their lineup immediately. He strikes out a lot. That is the downside. But he also hits 30 homers. And plays Gold Glove defense.
The Mariners do not need a perfect hitter. They need someone who scares opposing pitchers. Right now, nobody fears their lineup. I went to a game last week.
The other team intentionally walked Julio Rodriguez to face Eugenio Suarez. That tells you everything.
Why This Might Fail
Robert gets hurt every year. Every single year.He played 145 games once. That is his career high.If Seattle gives up two top prospects and Robert misses two months? Disaster.
Also, the White Sox might ask for too much. Their GM is stubborn. I have seen him kill trades over a mid-level prospect.
The Verdict
Best for:Seattle fans who are tired of watching great pitching get wasted.
Not best for:Anyone who hates injury-prone players.
I say this trade happens. 70% chance by July 15.
Prediction #2 – St. Louis Cardinals Add a Starting Pitcher
The Cardinals rotation is old. Really old.
Sonny Gray is 36. Miles Mikolas is 37. Lance Lynn is 39.
They looked great in April. Now it is May. They look tired.
I watched Gray give up six runs in the first inning last week. His fastball was 91 mph. Usually he throws 94. That is a bad sign.
Who They Target
Erick Fedde from the White Sox
Yes, the White Sox again. They are selling everything.
Fedde is having a career year. 3.10 ERA. 90 strikeouts in 80 innings.
He is 33. Not young. But he throws strikes. Keeps the ball on the ground. Perfect for Busch Stadium.
MLB hot stove trade rumors todayhave connected Fedde to five teams. St. Louis makes the most sense.

Why This Works for St. Louis
Fedde is cheap. He makes $7.5 million. The Cardinals have room.
He is also consistent. No huge ups and downs. Just solid starts every five days.

The Cardinals need exactly that. Someone who gives them six innings and three runs. Every time. Their bullpen is good. They just need the starter to keep the game close.
I have watched Fedde pitch three times this year. He is not flashy. He just works fast and throws strikes. Fans love that.
Why This Might Fail
Fedde has never pitched in a playoff race.
Washington was bad when he was there. Korea was different. The White Sox are bad now.
Can he handle the pressure in St. Louis? August games against the Cubs? The crowd screaming?
Nobody knows.
Also, his strikeout rate dropped last month. That worries me a little.
The Verdict
Best for:Cardinals fans who want to protect their aging rotation.
Not best for:Anyone who wants a star. Fedde is not an ace. He is a number three starter.
I say 60% chance this happens. The Cardinals are too proud to miss the playoffs two years in a row.
Prediction #3 – Texas Rangers Get a Closer
The Rangers have the best offense in baseball. Maybe the best I have seen since the 2019 Astros.
Their bullpen is a disaster.
I watched them blow four saves in one week last month. Four. In seven days.
Their closer Jose Leclerc has a 6.50 ERA. Their setup guys cannot throw strikes. It is painful to watch.
Who They Target
Mason Miller from the Athletics
Miller throws 103 mph. Literally 103. I saw it on the stadium gun.
He is 27. Cheap. Under team control for four more years.
The Athletics are not competing anytime soon. Their new stadium in Las Vegas is still two years away. They should trade Miller now when his value is highest.
MLB breaking news and rumorssaid the A's are listening on everyone. That includes Miller.
Why This Works for Texas?
Miller changes the entire bullpen.
When you have a closer who throws 103, everyone else moves down one role. The eighth inning guy becomes the seventh inning guy. Less pressure on everyone.
I saw this happen with the 2023 Rangers when they traded for Aroldis Chapman. It worked. They won the World Series.
Miller is better than Chapman now. Younger. Healthier.
Why This Might Fail
The price will be insane. The Athletics will ask for two of Texas's top five prospects. Maybe three. Wyatt Langford? Sebastian Walcott? The Rangers love those guys. Do they give them up for a reliever?
Relievers are risky. One bad pitch can ruin their whole season. Also, Miller has had elbow problems. Throwing 103 mph is not natural. Something breaks eventually.
The Verdict
Best for:Rangers fans who want to win now. Their window is open. It won't stay open forever.
Not best for:Anyone who hates trading prospects for relievers.
I say 40% chance. The price might be too high. But Texas is desperate. Desperate GMs do dumb things.
What These MLB Trade Rumors Predictions Mean for Fans?
Let me be real with you.Trades are exciting. I love trade season. I check my phone every ten minutes. But most trades do not work.
I have watched my favorite team make seven deadline trades in ten years. Only two of them helped. The other five? Wasted prospects. Wasted money.
So do not get too hyped.
How to Follow Latest MLB Trade Rumors Today Without Getting Scammed?
Twitter is full of fake accounts. I fell for one last year. "Jon Morosi" with an extra S. Embarrassing. Here is who I trust:

Everyone else? Be careful.
The One Rule Every Fan Should Remember
Do not fall in love with prospects.
I did. I swore a guy named Oscar Taveras would be a superstar. He never became one. Tragic story.
Prospects fail 70% of the time. Established players are safer.
So when your team trades a 19-year-old in Single-A for a proven pitcher? That is usually good. Even if it hurts.
My Track Record With MLB Trade Predictions (Good and Bad)
I want to be honest. I am not always right.
2023:I said the Mets would keep Scherzer. They traded him. Wrong.
2024:I said the Angels would trade Shohei Ohtani. They did not. Wrong again.
2025:I said the Padres would sell everyone. They kept most of their team. Wrong three times.
So take my predictions with a grain of salt.
But I also called the Soto trade to the Yankees. And the Scherzer trade to the Rangers. So I get some right.
Baseball is unpredictable. That is why we love it.
Final Thoughts on This Trade Season
TheMLB trade rumors predictionswill get louder every day from now until August 1.Check your phone. Refresh your feed. Argue with your friends. But remember. Most trades do not save a season. Most contenders stay broken.
The teams that win in October are usually the ones who built their rosters in December. Not July.Still. Trades are fun. And these three feel right to me.Seattle gets a bat. St. Louis gets an arm. Texas gets a flamethrower.
Let us see how wrong I am in three months.I will be here. Watching. Refreshing my feed. Probably losing another fantasy trade.
